I love how the movie ends by telling you to Google search more information on 2012 to find the truth!  Is that the place where we are supposed to turn to find the truth of matters these days?  I guess it's as good a medium as anything else.   Well I decided to hit up Google on 2012, and what I came to find, is that regardless of the slant, or the view...EVERY ONE thinks that something is up with the year 2012.  Some call it the Apocalypse, and some say it is a time of great enlightenment

Let's take a look at some of the Apocalyptic schools of thought.  On the winter solstice 2012, the sun, the earth, and the middle of the Milky Way will line up.  This could cause extreme solar flares, gravitational damage, even as much as a reversing of the poles of the World.  Could you imagine the northern hemisphere being suddenly in the southern sphere and vice versa, and all the damage that would result from that?  It's almost a bit to crazy to think about.  But are we not already seeing this kind of crazy natural phenomenon? It is enhanced by the fact that many ancient prophets, and mystics have even used the words shifting of the poles in their predictions.

Religion too, is hopping on board, and many fundamentalist are talking of the coming back of Jesus Christ.  I have to admit, the last days was something that intrigued me a great deal when I was a child, and it certainly looks like the prophetic words of Revelation are also coming true.  Now I know the Bible says that no man knows the day or the hour of his return, but it also says that you can pay attention and know the times, and know that the time is near. 

It is the Mayans, that have given us the most definitive date that something is going to happen.  You see, there calendar, that was created thousands of years ago, and is more predictive of solar and planetary events then our own calendar today stops on the 21st of December, 2012.  They predict that at that time, earth as we know it will change for ever. 

Many of the great sages see this time as a time of enlightenment.  A time when the global consciousness of man evolves past our differences and inequalities.  A time when there will be such a speeding up of everything that is going on, and emotional and spiritual breakthroughs will be the norm, and not the exception. 

If you look over in my sidebar, I recently read a book called the Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness.  I would recommend it as reading to anyone who has a curiosity about the Mayan calendar and its connection to 2012. 

I still do not know what's going to happen, but regardless of what happens, believing that human beings can evolve past our differences and prejudices and separations, is something that resonnects with me.  If it is the end of the world, and all will be destroyed, I'd like the universe to know that we came together as one before it was all said and done.  I'd like the universe to know that greed and power did not dominate our psyches, but connection to all did.  I'd like the universe to know that everything that we have was at the disposal of everyone else. 

Four years doesn't seem like much time, but you have to admit, everything is speeding up so much faster these days.  Why can't our understanding and love and concern for each other speed up at just as quickly a pace?
